Brain Imaging Illuminates Neurological Basis of Meditation
meditators like Salzberg may actually work differently than brains of those who
don't meditate. The study gives scientists a window into the meditating mind,
providing evidence that the practice appears to change the way the brain works
and could give meditators a leg up when it comes to dealing with mental
disorders.

Health Matters: Stress Management
From University of California T.V.: Steven D. Hickman, Psy.D. discusses the field of behavioral medicine, specifically assessing and treating patients with chronic pain and illness. Dr. Hickman utilizes Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) a particular way of paying attention: with mindful intention, in the moment, without judgment. Although MBSR embraces the acceptance of things as they are without striving, research has shown that, with regular practice, it has the potential to lower stress, anxiety, and depression. It can promote relaxation, improve concentration, raise self-awareness, and enhance the immune system.

Meditation Enhances Attention - Scientific American
Neuroscientists discover a specific example of how meditating can give you the ability to notice things that non-meditators can't: When you're concentrating on something and miss something else that should be obvious, that's the attentional blink. New research shows that meditators can avoid this gap in perception.
Cognitive Neuroscience of Mindfulness Meditation
This talk will examine the effect of mindfulness meditation practice on the brain systems in which psychological functions such as attention, emotional reactivity, emotion regulation, and self-view are instantiated. We will also discuss how different forms of meditation practices are being studied using neuroscientific technologies and are being integrated into clinical practice to address symptoms of anxiety, depression, and stress.
