Upcoming Special Events
Brain Awareness Week (BAW) is the global campaign to increase public awareness of the progress and benefits of brain research. Founded in 1996 by the Dana Alliance for Brain Initiatives, BAW unites the efforts of partner organizations from around the world in a week-long celebration of the brain every March. Partners include universities, hospitals, K-12 schools, advocacy groups, government agencies, service organizations, professional groups, and affiliates.
During BAW, partners organize creative and innovative activities in their communities to educate and excite people of all ages about the brain and the promise of brain research. Activities are limited only by the organizers’ imaginations.

Singing Bowl Meditation
Facilitated by Kate McCutchan
Music Director at the Unity Church of Harrisburg
During the group meditation with the large crytal singing bowls we had the opportunity to lie down and relax with our eyes closed and to ride the gentle waves of sound created by the song of the bowls inducing true relaxation in body and soul. The Neuroscience of Mindfulness
With Dr. David Sullivan of Keystone Natural Health
Neuroscience is providing new insights into how our brain impacts how we think, feel, act, and how we learn and change. This mini-workshop explored the plasticity of the brain, the fascinating ways our brains respond to stress and mindfulness meditation, and how this new knowledge can be used to promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
Dr. Sullivan is a graduate of Logan Chiropractic College and has also completed hundreds of hours in post-doctoral education in chiropractic neurology through the Carrick Institute – a program focused on the intricate relationships between the brain and body, pain, learning disabilities and balance disorders. Trained in the latest, cutting-edge diagnostics and treatments utilizing non-drug, non-surgical brain-based therapeutics, Dr. Sullivan continues to successfully rehabilitate patients suffering from neurologic conditions such as Fibromyalgia, Multiple Sclerosis, post-stroke, ADHD, and Asperger’s.
We look forward to having Dr. Sullivan with us again in the near future!
